A Tribute to Burmese Song Singer, Sai Htee Seing

"Childhood" aka "A Lost Heaven" by Sai Htee Seing

One of our (My wife, brother & sister) favorite Burmese Singers, Sai Htee Seing passed away last Sunday, 9 March 2008. We grew up with his beautiful songs. We would sing along whenever we played his tapes. I especially remembered one evening, which our beloved uncle Peter taught one of his songs, A Lost Heaven (aka) Childhood. Most of his songs were composed by Dr. Sai Khun Lak with deep meanings for love, political and social issues with lovely lyrics. Sai Htee Seing sang those songs beautifully with nostalgic vocal accent.
I was lucky enough to know him through my uncle in the late 80s. I was at the May Studio for his recordings with my uncle, and went out and about with shopping for his wife at Rangoon Scott Market. The man was very simple comparing to his famous stature. Ko Htee had no airs of who he was, and was very much like normal guy. We are saddened by his passing and we will always remember the good times and memories, which his songs bring us to this day.
Rest in peace, Ko Htee. There’ll never be a lost heaven for you because you are in Heaven now.
