April Snow
Poems by Rabindranath Tagore from Gardener
I love you, beloved. Forgive me my love.
Like a bird losing its way I am caught.
When my heart was shaken it lost its veil and was naked.
Cover it with pity, beloved, and forgive me my love.
If you cannot love me, beloved, forgive me my pain.
Do not look askance at me from afar.
I will steal back to my corner and sit in the dark.
With both hands I will cover my naked shame.
Turn your face from me, beloved, and forgive me my pain.
If you love me, beloved, forgive me my joy.
When my heart is borne away by the flood of happiness, do not smile at my perilous abandonment.
When I sit on my throne and rule you with my tyranny of love,
when like a goddess I grant you my favour, bear with my pride, beloved, and forgive me my joy.
34.
Do not go, my love, without asking my leave.
I have watched all night, and now my eyes are heavy with sleep.
I fear lest I lose you when I am sleeping.
Do not go, my love, without asking my leave.
I start up and stretch my hands to touch you.
I ask myself, "Is it a dream?"Could I but entangle your feet with my heart and hold them fast to my breast!
Do not go, my love, without asking my leave.
41.
I long to speak the deepest words I have to say to you; but I dare not, for fear you should laugh.
That is why I laugh at myself and shatter my secret in jest.
I make light of my pain, afraid you should do so.
I long to tell you the truest words I have to say to you; but I dare not, being afraid that you would not believe them.
That is why I disguise them in untruth, saying the contrary of what I mean.
I make my pain appear absurd, afraid that you should do so.
I long to use the most precious words I have for you; but I dare not, fearing I should not be paid with like value.
That is why I gave you hard names and boast of my callous strength.
I hurt you, for fear you should never know any pain.
I long to sit silent by you; but I dare not lest my heart come out at my lips.
That is why I prattle and chatter lightly and hide my heart behind words.
I rudely handle my pain, for fear you should do so.
I long to go away from your side; but I dare not, for fear my cowardice should become known to you.
That is why I hold my head high and carelessly come into your presence.
Constant thrusts from your eyes keep my pain fresh forever.
51.
Then finish the last song and let us leave.
Forget this night when the night is no more.
Whom do I try to clasp in my arms?
Dreams can never be made captive.
My eager hands press emptiness to my heart and it bruises my breast.

One Of My Favorite Songs of Teresa Tseng ~ 鄧麗君~~無奈
鄧麗君~~無奈
One of my cousins gave me a Teresa Teng's CD when I visited Taiwan in 2005. One of the songs is this beautiful song, 無奈. Teresa recorded this song in 1985. It got lost at that time, only to be discovered 20 years later by chance (As per stunningnuts on youtube.com ). I have never heard of this song before then. I like it very much, and hope you like it too.
I only understood some parts of the song. I got the full meaning from my betterhalf.

A Tribute to Burmese Song Singer, Sai Htee Seing
"Childhood" aka "A Lost Heaven" by Sai Htee Seing
One of our (My wife, brother & sister) favorite Burmese Singers, Sai Htee Seing passed away last Sunday, 9 March 2008. We grew up with his beautiful songs. We would sing along whenever we played his tapes. I especially remembered one evening, which our beloved uncle Peter taught one of his songs, A Lost Heaven (aka) Childhood. Most of his songs were composed by Dr. Sai Khun Lak with deep meanings for love, political and social issues with lovely lyrics. Sai Htee Seing sang those songs beautifully with nostalgic vocal accent.
I was lucky enough to know him through my uncle in the late 80s. I was at the May Studio for his recordings with my uncle, and went out and about with shopping for his wife at Rangoon Scott Market. The man was very simple comparing to his famous stature. Ko Htee had no airs of who he was, and was very much like normal guy. We are saddened by his passing and we will always remember the good times and memories, which his songs bring us to this day.
Rest in peace, Ko Htee. There’ll never be a lost heaven for you because you are in Heaven now.

Queen of Japanese Enka, Hibari Misora
I love to listen old Japanese songs since I was young. Hibari Misora is my favorite. She still was the best Enka singer although her untimely death on 24 June 1989.
Like a saying goes; music is a universal language.
川の流れのように
Shirazu shirazu aruitekita hosoku nagai kono michi
-Unknowingly I came sauntering into this narrow and long country road.
Furikaereba haruka tooku furusato ga mieru
- If I looked back I could see my home town in the distance.
Dekoboko michi ya magarikunetta michiChizu sae nai soremo mata jinsei
- Roads here are bumpy and winding. I am clueless without even a map. These also are like life. (Bumpy, winding and clueless)
Aa kawa no nagare no youni
- O Like the flow of a river,
yuruyaka ni ikutsu mo jidai wa sugite
- many ages have quietly passed by.
Aa kawa no nagare no youniTomedonaku sora ga tasogare ni somaru dake
- O Like the flow of a river, the sky would day after day color the horizon only at sunset.
Ikiru koto wa tabisuru koto
- Life is but a journey.
owari no nai kono michi aisuru hito soba ni tsurete yume sagashinagara
- Taking my beloved by my side, I walk this endless road searching for our dream.
Ame ni furarete nukarunda michi demo itsuka wa mata hareru hi ga kuru kara
- Despite the fact that the roads were made muddy by the rain, I am confident that sunny day would return some day.
Aa kawa no nagare no youniodayaka ni kono mi wo makaseteitai
- O Like the flow of a river,I wish to peacefully give myself in to this place,
Aa kawa no nagare no youniutsuriyuku kisetsu yukidoke wo machinagara
- O like the flow of a river, awaiting the thawing of the snow when the season changes
Aa kawa no nagare no youniodayaka ni kono mi wo makaseteitai
- O Like the flow of a river,I wish to peacefully give myself in to this place,
Aa kawa no nagare no youniitsumademo aoi seseragi wo kikinagara
- O like the flow of a river, forever listening to the murmuring blue stream.
