Erhu

Spring of South River

Erhu is my favourite musical instrument. One night in Singapore, after diner with one of my best friends, Win Hlaing (Lim), I came across a group of senior citizens, playing Erhu and some other Chinese Music instruments in the playground pavilion near Singapore HDB (Housing Development Board) foods center. I never forget the music of that night, especially Erhu.

I often listen Erhu music since then. The music brings me to the places, where I have never been to. I could imagine and float in the soft music as if I was somewhere, beautiful and serene places in China. Music of Erhu evokes the appreciation of my heritage and culture. I would like to learn to play Erhu and have me reconnected to my roots.

The Erhu musician is Yu Hongmei. You can find her on http://yuhongmei.com/.

Enjoy!
