When We Two Parted By Lord Byron

When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.

The dew of the morning
Sunk chill on my brow--
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame;
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o'er me--
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee too well--
Long, long shall I rue thee,
Too deeply to tell.

In secret we met--
In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee?--
With silence and tears.
22 January 1788– 19 April 1824
Lord Byron passed away 185 years ago. This great poem still moves a lot of poem lovers.

A Poem To My Uncle, Peter

NOTHING’S BAD

Nothing’s bad about getting old,
As long as having little woes.
Face every plight with grace.
Stride it with a steady pace.

Nothing’s bad about blurry vision,
As long as one can see.
Feel with beating heart.
Love and care the other half.

Nothing’s bad about feeling sick,
As long as getting better in a week.
Shake that bitter medicine well.
Drink it with a ginger smile.

Nothing’s bad about celebrating birthdays,
As long as forgetting your real age.
Welcome every new day.
Forget yesterday lows.

So, stop fretting about getting old.
Forgive all your foes.
Happiness and peace in return will give you glow.
Good health is in the row.

XV and XVI from Fruit-Gathering, Rabindranath Tagore Poem

XV (Fruit-Gathering, Rabindranath Tagore)
YOUR speech is simple, my Master, but not theirs who talk of you.
I understand the voice of your stars and the silence of your trees.
I know that my heart would open like a flower; that my life has filled itself at a hidden fountain.
Your songs, like birds from the lonely land of snow, are winging to build their nests in my heart against the warmth of its April, and I am content to wait for the merry season.

XVI (Fruit-Gathering, Rabindranath Tagore)
THEY knew the way and went to seek you along the narrow lane, but I wandered abroad into the night for I was ignorant.
I was not schooled enough to be afraid of you in the dark, therefore I came upon your doorstep unaware.
The wise rebuked me and bade me be gone, for I had not come by the lane.
I turned away in doubt, but you held me fast, and their scolding became louder every day.

22. From the Gardener by Tagore

22
When she passed by me with quick steps, the end of her skirt touched me.
From the unknown island of a heart came a sudden warm breath of spring.
A flutter of a flitting touch brushed me and vanished in a
moment, like a torn flower petal blown in the breeze.
It fell upon my heart like a sigh of her body and whisper of her heart.

At Grandmum's

At Grandmum’s

The clock clicked
Steadily
Time passed.
Would I catch the bus?

‘God know Dear boy
You’ll get it’
But the meal
Wasn’t ready still.

Anger, rage, urgency
Filled my chest
‘These old people
Don’t know time’,
Thought I,
But I couldn’t defy
Her.

I heard the crack
Of the splintering wood
And out went I
Breaking the plank
With the senile hands
Slowly surely
Was Grandmum.

Tears filled my eyes
Of patience for
Foolish artificiality,
For defying this
Great love.

California Blue (Roy Orbison)

California Blue (by Roy Orbison)
Working all day and the sun don’t shine
Trying to get by and I’m just killing time
I feel the rain fall the whole night through
Far away from you California blue

California blue dreaming all alone
Nothing else to do California blue
Everyday I pray I’ll be on my way
Saving love for you California blue

One sunny day, I’ll get back again
Somehow, someway but I don’t know when
California blue California blue

Living my life with you on my mind
Thinking of things that I left far behind
It’s been so long doing all I can do
To get back to you California blue

California blue dreaming all alone
Nothing else to do California blue
Everyday I pray I’ll be on my way
Saving love for you California blue

One sunny day I’ll get back again
Somehow, someway but I don’t know when
California blue California blue

Still missing you California blue
Still missing you California blue
Still missing you California blue

A Beautiful Day On Julie's Birthday

A Beautiful Day
What a beautiful day!
A singing bird on the wing,
A dappling sunshine on my book,
A blue sky of the spring,
A lotus in the brook:
Make me to remember your birthday
It itself is as beautiful as your smile now.

Echoes

Echoes
How sweet the answer
Echo makes to music at night,
When roused by lute or horn, she wakes,
And far away over lawns and lakes,
Goes answering light!

Yet love hath echoes truer far
And far more sweet
Than ever, beneath the moonlight's star,
Of horn or lute or soft guitar
The songs repeat.

'Tis when the sigh,- in youth sincere
And only then-
The sigh that is breathed for one to hear,
Is by that one, that only Dear
Breathed back again.

This is one of my favourite poems by Thomas Moore. Perfectly, this poem illustrates my university days. Some of my university friends used to play guitar and sang songs at girl hostals or boarding houses at night.

All My Wishes

All My Wishes
Lying on the bed,
Trying to get a sleep,
The bed seems too big.
Sanity, I tried to keep.
Loneliness was very deep.

Making a instant noodle,
Made me so fuddled.
Used to be very simple.
Fulfillment, I tried to keep.
But Emptiness was very big.

When will my better-half be back?
I’m feeling like a wreck.
Miss her delicious dishes,
And her gentle kisses,
Seeing her sooner is all my wishes.

A Poem By Alexander Pushkin

I love you; even now I may confess,
some embers of my love their fire retain;
But do not let it causes you more distress,
I do not want to sadden you again.
Hopeless and tongue-tied, yet I loved you dearly
With pangs the jealous and the timid know;
So tenderly I loved you, so sincerely,
I pray God grant another love you so.

林姿君-客家歌-(Hakka Song for Grandma)

客家電視-「十分客家」林姿君-唱一條歌
This remembrance Hakka song for grandma is very touching. It really makes me homesick and think of my grandparents more. My grandma used to tell us some folklores before we went to bed. She always reminded us to study hard.

This singer is a tough Hakka girl, who is blind and has tried hard to succeed in study and her life. Her songs are so touching and meaningful. It really melt my heart.
